Eggs and Omelets - ingredients

April 10, session one, Vision of "Greatness"

“Piroj Nellens’ library was made available to the public. When the doors open however almost all of the officials working there were dead because of various reasons.

A group mortals entered, all for their own reasons. They found the glass library and within it fragments of a diary, reputed to of Nellens Piroj. 5 people in the group pieced together facts that tied them to Nellens Piroj or gave insight into other happenings of their past.

While further exploring the library, the group wound up in a desert with alien green stars and a green sun. After 5 days of travel they received a sight of a metallic city, before a sandstorm came upon them and somehow left them in a South eastern jungle.

After a deadly encounter with a local danger named a blade vine in which Shining Cloud lost his life, they found themselves before the Ruins of the first age city of sorcery, Sperimin. Called Mahalanka, City of a Thousand Delights in these troubled times, it is said to be ruled by tribes of Ape beastmen who have tendency to towards eating human flesh.

Exploring the ruins and choosing to hide from the beastmen, they found a library filled with dusty scrolls and tomes, some partially readable. Continuing on, The library came out on a beach, the ruins behind them caved in, apparently robbing them of companions, leaving them just With Moon’s Gale, Zubayr, Sûnar and Bright Eyes.

The beach was on the Island of Skullstone, 10 miles from the capital of Onyx. The still wounded group found a small contraption, which they believed was referred to as the “egg” in one of the diary fragments. Sister artifact to the Blossoming of Inner Petals project, this one was called Ascendancy of Royal Roots. Former was Water aspected, the later was defaulted to Wood. Reputedly serving the same function, creating dragonblooded from mortals, this briefly enticed the small group, but they declined the option, not wanting turn out the same as the Dynasts which the group apparently dislikes. 2 of the group members suffered further injury and needed time to recover although they apparently had access to great resources since they each instantly healed at a later time. Bright Eyes managed to reduce the artifact to a smaller inactive version of itself. Then the group started to fight amongst itself on how to further treat the artifact. The egg was thrown in to the sea although not in time that a passing undead patrol headed by a Deathknight saw it.

The Deathknight politely encouraged the group to jump down into the sea to retrieve the shiny golden object, either curious to it’s importance or simply bored.

Chaos ensued, the egg was retrieved but in the meantime a Siaka, a giant shark showed up and displayed preference to the meat of Zubayr, who promptly got eaten. The Deathknight attacked Sûnar who lost consciousness. The last 2 where inevitable drowned in a horde of undead although the memory is hazy.

The group of 5 found themselves in the glass library of Nellens Piroj again, staring at sheets of the diary. Richer in experience, mental trauma, physical scars and items picked up in the events experienced, they are alive nonetheless.

what where they events they just experienced? Vision, Omen, Dream, Spell, Trap or maybe a hallucination? Maybe we’ll find out next time.”

Soooo. My head still hurts from yesterday. Fatigue or maybe the burden of a month’s preparation off my shoulders?

The goals I had in mind for this session before I started it. -Get the group together and atleast as a group by present a dangerous world. (Succesful) -Introduce powerful enemies to them (Succesful) - Show how lethal combat without permanently killing everyone (Partially) - have them find the egg (Partially) - Find them find the diary and draw conclusions from it (Partially)

Overall I consider the session a succes, it was a railroader and cliche’d but I think it served it’s purpose. If I have them battle these enemies with a real option of dying, the mortality rate would be a bit too steep with what I am comfortable with.
